St. Louis Community College - Wildwood Campus Tour

The St. Louis Community College's new state-of-the-art Wildwood campus opened in August 2007 in far west St. Louis County. Wildwood is a "green" campus — the first of its kind in Missouri — built with environmentally friendly materials and architecture. The campus was designed to enhance occupant comfort and health, reduce operating costs, conserve natural resources and reduce each building’s impact on the environment and the community. These concepts qualify it for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The tour includes seven stops on campus and highlights the following areas:

  • Outside the Building - landscaping, stormwater management, electric car recharging, etc.
  • Classrooms - daylighting,“smart” classroom technology, etc.
  • Building Automation System
  • Student Lounge - Waterless urinals, low volume toilets, touch-less technology, sensor controlled lighting
  • Faculty Offices - Recycled content (steel, wheat board, concrete/fly ash)), certified wood, recycling
  • Green Roof - Green Roof Blocks, rain water run-off control and cistern storage of 80,000 gallons, highly reflective roof membrane
  • Art Classroom and Science Lab - Indoor air quality, MERV 12 filtering, construction material protection and building flushout, low VOC’s , separate exhaust systems
